CEENQA General Assembly Meeting

The General Assembly Meeting of the members of the Central and Eastern Network of Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (CEENQA) took place on May 13-14, 2016 in Krakow, Poland. The Meeting was hosted by the Polish Accreditation Committee and University Accreditation Committee at the Jagiellonian University.

Dr. Iring Wasser, President of CEENQA; Prof. Andrzej Mania, Vice-Rector of the Jagiellonian University; Prof. Marek Wasowicz, UAC President and Prof. Lukasz Sulkowski, PKA President delivered the welcome remarks.

The seminar on May 13 was devoted to discussion of urgent issues connected with transnational accrediation. The following participants delivered reports on special thematical issues:

  • - Nora Skaburskiene, director of the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education (SKVC, Lithuania), member of CEENQA Executive Committee ("Why transnational accreditation matters for CEENQA members: Introduction in the topic and presentation of questionnaire results");
  • - Achim Hopbach, Managing Director of the Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation, AQ Austria ("Challenges of transnational accreditation for quality assurance agencies");
  • - Fabrizio Trifiro, international adviser of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education QAA, UK ("Transnational accreditation in the UK: QA of franchise educational offers as a challenge");
  • - Mark Frederiks, coordinator international policy of the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders, NVAO ("The joint accreditation of master programmes as a challenge for transnational accreditation").

In the frameworks of the General Assembly Meeting which took place on May 14 the following questions were covered: changes in the Statute, membership in the organization, vote for new members of CEENQA Executive Committee, reports for 2015, reports of the members of the Executive Committee, presentation of CEENQA informational bulletin and other organizational issues.

In the frameworks of a round table represenatives from every agency had an opportunity to tell about the latest events in the accreditation policy and achievements of their own agencies.  
Over 40 representatives from 26 quality assurance agencies as well as European Higher Education Institutions and scientific organizations took part in the seminar and General Assembly.

Russia was represented by the National Centre for Public Accreditation (O. Matveeva, deputy director of the Accreditation Office) and the National Accreditation Agency (director L. Izmaylova and leading methodologist F. Garifullina).

Events of a such level are important for initiating new partner projects with agencies-members of CEENQA, becoming a base for sharing experience and new projects in the sphere of assessment of education quality.
