1

On January 26, 2022, an online meeting of the ENQA working group on Academic Integrity was held. This working group was established in 2021 to discuss the role of quality assurance agencies in supporting academic integrity and combating academic misconduct in higher education.

The problem of academic integrity became particularly acute during the COVID-19 pandemic, as a result of which there was a sharp transition to online, distance and "hybrid" learning in the higher education system in the world. There is ample evidence that students have begun to make more use of the services of contract cheating companies engaged the sale of term papers and theses, during testing and exams, including through compromising websites of higher education providers.

The aim of the project is to provide recommendations to ENQA members that could help counter threats to academic integrity arising from plagiarism, cheating and other types of academic misconduct, as well as to promote ethical principles of academic integrity in higher education.

During the discussion, questions were raised about the scale of the threat to academic integrity in different countries of the European Higher Education Area, as well as measures taken by universities, the academic community and governments to comply with ethical principles and combat miscounduct in the educational process.
